Bramley wand

Magic wands in a form of cuttings, whose seeds came from the Mother of Bramley trees who now, being 200 years old is dying, were given to the public. These were donated by amazing Future Orchard Cork. Everyone upon entering received a questionnaire related to safety and a magic wand if was interested in planting it. An explanation how to plant it was given during the performance. I hope one day I will find out somehow how many people were successful and I will have a chance to see the grown trees in one form or another. If you are one of these people, do contact me, please.

Heartfelt Apple

I could not think of a better person than Marieke Bosman to plant a tree in a ritualistic way during the performance. I met this lady during my event in the library. She was very open and forthcoming and was admiring the amount of feathers she saw at the installation. She said she felt magic. I admired her courage for she was travelling by herself to remote locations. When I asked her what was she doing, I heard - hardcore connections. That took me by surprise and I wondered what it could mean. As I asked more questions it became apparent she dealt with -heart core connection, haha. A bit different thing. She helps people to listen to their heart. I resonated with her mission very much as that’s what I have been doing with my project: listening to and following my heart in opposition to my loudly protesting head.

We set an intention for planting and for the audience in the light of the meaning of apple from Ireland’s Trees book: ‘The apple is a tree of healing and renewal. Apples in the otherworld are always golden coloured and taste of honey. They have great restorative powers. King Arthur was brought to Avalon, the island of Apples, to recover from his wounds. Mannanan Mac Lir, the Irish god of the sea, lived at Eamhain Abhlach, the Place of Apples (the Gaelic Avalon). He had a branch from which hung nine gold red apples. The music they made as they struck each other was so sweet it restored life to the sick.

The apple, with its beautiful blossoms and nourishing fruit, is a symbol of delights of the otherworld, and of fertility, replenishment and healing’.

Religion-Tides-The Writer

I met Sue Blue in Ó Bhéal and was awestruck at her spoken word in German. I never thought that German language can sound so melodic. She really takes me on a journey to her world of poetry and I feel it in every cell of my body. Her expressive performances are juicy and full of charge. I also fell in love with her poetry collection of the book you see above and I really wished for some of these to be a part of the performance. Sue instantly saw the connections and we chose three poems we thought best suited this moment, this topic, these circumstances.

Have a look at Sue performing one of her poems from another collection for Balcony TV Cork:

Two Wolfs story told with movement

This story was told at the Gab and in Zolala Klub as part of the first set: Safety.Sanctuary. I was thinking about it quite often and started seeing it as movement. I instantly knew whom I wished to do this with. Helena Palmer. She is a woman of many talents: co-founded Yoga Collective, is a dancer and is into sound, among many other things. I met her at one of the sound events in the Guesthouse and since then our lives have been interwoven with dance/movement. For instance, for Poetry Surprise Day she did movement interpretations of the poems I was reading out. Another time, during Safety.Sanctuary. event in the Fitzgerald Park we devoted a whole day to our interpretation of the question: ‘Is it safe to be you in your body?’ through movement. This time we were jointed by movement by dancing out the story of Two Wolfs.

Check out one of Helena’s dance below:

Yes, I could not believe my eyes when I encountered this company. I was in Amsterdam and decided to use a tunnel to get to the other side. It was filled with shops of no interest to me until I saw a word Worldism. It drew my attention and so I entered a shop and saw this story printed on clothes. I really support the ideology and philosophy behind this initiative so here it is, now a part of a story.

This event would not have happened if not for Stanley Notte. After I was accepted to the First Fortnight Festival I faced a venue challenge. Stanley was really open and willing to share his space as he was also performing for the First Fortnight. I accepted humbly and I am very appreciative for what he did for me. I was very fortunate to see Stan performing on a few occasions and every time he touches a cord in me. He is a man of many, many talents, check out for yourself in the link below.
